Sparta, NJ; The Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation will hold its annual Recognition Celebration on October 2, 2022, to celebrate and honor the fantastic contributions from two deserving honorees, Sparta resident Kathy Romine and Lake Mohawk’s Balanced Rock Beach (Beach 6).
“Our annual event is an opportunity to recognize the Foundation’s accomplishments over the past year,” states Board President Bill Askin. “We honor contributions from exceptional individuals and organizations who align with the initiatives of the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation and work to keep our environment healthy.”
The Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation created the Fran Smith Lake Preservation Award to pay tribute to Fran Smith, a visionary leader in the community and the Club General Manager for many years. Before Fran’s tenure at Lake Mohawk, there were no benches or flowers on the Boardwalk, and the lake water was green.
Fran initiated the Preservation Foundation 10 years ago with the vision of helping to preserve the Lake. The Foundation has expanded to ensure that Fran’s vision also includes preserving the headwater of the Wallkill River.
This year the Foundation will present two awards: The Fran Smith Award to Kathy Romine and the Organization Leadership Award to Balanced Rock Beach (Beach 6).
Kathy Romine is recognized for all her outstanding volunteerism over the years and her positive contribution to our community. She will be honored with the Fran Smith Award for her efforts and initiatives in making Lake Mohawk and the Sparta Community a cleaner and better place to live.
The Organization Leadership Award will be awarded to Balanced Rock Beach (Beach 6). Noted as one of the most popular beaches on the Lake, the officers of this beach plan extensive events each season open to the community. In their charitable outlook, this beach donates profits from these events to community members who have experienced hardships.
This year the event will be held Sunday, October 2, from 3 PM to 6:30 PM, on the Lake Mohawk Boardwalk. Join us in recognizing this honoree with live music, 50/50, and lite fare.
