Labor Day 5K to benefit Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation
Tap Into, August 8, 2022, The law firm of Askin & Hooker, LLC presents the 5th Annual Labor Day 5K on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at the Lake Mohawk Plaza in Sparta. The race will benefit the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization focused on improving and preserving lake water quality at Lake Mohawk and the Wallkill River Watershed. NJDEP gives Lake Mohawk $160K to fight HABS
Township Journal, March 10, 2020, Lake Mohawk Country Club and the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation will receive $160,924 in matching funds from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to combat Harmful Algal Blooms in the lake. The funds will go to a 24-month project that will study how effective non-copper algaecides and chemicals that would render phosphorus in the lake inactive, according to a release from the agency. Former mayor is first recipient of preservation award
Sparta Independent, November 14, 2016, Former Sparta Township Mayor Jim Henderson will be honored as the first recipient of the Fran Smith Lake Preservation Award on November 18 at the Lake Mohawk Country Club. Jim is being recognized for his long and remarkable record of leading efforts to improve the water quality of Lake Mohawk, the headwaters of the Wallkill River. This annual award was created last year by the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation to honor the memory of Fran Smith, the former General Manager of Lake Mohawk Country Club. Read More
